“Another exceptionally refined amarone from Paolo Creazzi. Quite muted on the nose, but translucent flavors on the palate. Bitter orange and orange bitters, gentian and dried plums, iodine and tamarind powder. It is dry, spicy and the tannins fill the mouth like a violin fills a cavernous concert hall, achingly elegant, soaring, but you can feel them with your whole body. The substantial alcohol is so beautifully melded into the fabric of the wine it is almost unbelievable that it is as high as it is. Creazzi must be the maghi (magician) of his estate’s name! (TC)”

The CRU vineyards of Cà Dei Maghi in Monte Sant’Urbano enjoy a microclimate and a unique terroir. This results in grapes that can surprise us with each harvest. Similarly, the 2015 harvest gave Cà Dei Maghi the opportunity to make the Amarone Valpolicella Classico “Canova” that meets two essential requirements: class and traceability. The Amarone “Canova” from Cà Dei Maghi is made from dried grapes from the ‘Canova’ vineyard. These grapes are picked by hand and then dried for 3 to 4 months. Finally, the wine matures in large wooden barrels for 60 months.
The Amarone “Canova” has a ruby red color. This color resembles, for example, the light reflections of a pomegranate.
In the nose, the Amarone “Canova” is broad and refined. First, there are aromas of red fruit infused with liquor, which are typical of the denomination. In addition, there are notes of rhubarb, blond tobacco and cinnamon. Finally, there are hints of cinchona and chocolate.
On the palate, Cà Dei Maghi’s showpiece is enveloping and structured, with an enormous balanced versatility: berries, blackberries and chocolate… Above all, this wine is a real pleasure for every wine lover.
Paolo Creazzi is a very talented winemaker who has access to unique terroirs. This has resulted in a great rating from, for example, Decanter . Firstly, Cà Dei Maghi’s Amarone Della Valpolicella Classico “Canova” received 95 points. But above all, it was voted “Best Amarone in tasting”.
The Amarone “Canova” can be combined very well with many meat dishes. Examples include boiled, fried, stewed or roasted meat & game. But it also goes well with hard aged cheeses such as the Pecorino, Parmagiano Reggiano or Taleggio.
