Chakra’s vineyards are located at an altitude of 300 to 400 meters above sea level, between the municipality of Putignano and the area of Castellana Grotte, known for the immeasurable beauty of the underground landscape formed by karstification. Above the caves, the soil is shallow, clay-limestone and rich in fossils. A short distance from the vines, the limestone rock emerges as the roots of the plants settle into the karst crevices.

Harvest for the Chakra Selezione Oro vineyard begins in mid-September, when phenolic ripeness is reached. The grapes are harvested entirely by hand and placed in crates.

The particularity of the Chakra Selezione Oro lies in the winemaking technique used. Part of the carefully selected bunches is used entirely in open wooden barrels, a technique called “vendanges entières,” which has been used for centuries in the most prestigious domaines of the Côte d’Or in Burgundy, but which is innovative for Murgia. This enhances and elevates the elegance of the wine by refining the body and enriching the bouquet.

Malolactic fermentation takes place in barriques and tonneaux of the second and third pass. The wine then rests for a minimum of 30 months on fine lees. After bottling, the wine rests another 9 months in bottle before being released to the market.

Giovanni Aiello’s Chakra Selezione Oro has a bright ruby red color. On the nose, aromas of crisp fresh fruit are released, surrounded by intensely spicy notes.

On the palate, this fascinating wine demonstrates all the atypical finesse it possesses, with elegant tannins accompanied by fine and well-balanced acidity and complixity.

Serving temperature: 16-18°C
