From a careful selection of hand-picked Sangiovese bunches, the grapes are destemmed and vinified in modern stainless steel tanks. The maceration takes about 25-30 days at a temperature of about 26° Celsius. When the alcoholic fermentation is complete, the wine begins its malolactic fermentation. The wine is then transferred to new French oak barrels where it matures for about 30 months. After the aging process, the wine is further blended with a selection of the very best barriques. After that, the “Gran Selezione” matures in the bottle for another 6 months.
Lornano’s Gran Selezione has a light ruby red color.
A beautiful and complex bouquet with notes of spice, tobacco, undergrowth and earthy notes, accompanied by hints of ripe wild berries and blackberries.
In the mouth the wine is soft and fresh, the tannins are well present, harmonious and of good power. The full and intense flavor gives a very pleasant persistence.
This wine can be combined with cooked (game) meat and various seasoned cheeses.
