Vinification

Joaquin Piante a Lapio is a rich and complex white wine, produced in small quantities from grapes grown on a single plot of vineyard of less than 3,000 bottles.

One hectare, located in Località Boschi in Lapio (AV), consisting of 35/40-year-old vines planted on layered and complex calcareous soils with basalt
underground at an altitude of about 550 meters. The vineyard is protected by its own forest behind it, from which the wine takes its name and which is fundamental to the microclimatic conditions in the vineyard.

The peculiarities of this area, Irpinia, including the volcanic nature of the soil, the altitude of the hills and the strong temperature variations, generate white wines with great freshness and acidity, essential characteristics to produce a white wine that can endure long evolutions in wood and bottle and reach maturity
even after 20 years of aging.

This is a white wine whose grapes, harvested and selected by hand in mid-October, are pressed and fermented using indigenous yeasts and selected yeasts in steel vats at an uncontrolled temperature. The wine continues its evolution in second and third passage tonneaux of chestnut and acacia wood in contact with the fine lees of the yeasts and then ages in steel vats and in bottle for at least 12 months.

Colour

Deep straw yellow, brilliant with golden nuances thanks to evolution and long aging in wood and bottle.

Odor

Rich and very complex, hints of spices, herbs, hazelnuts, citrus, honey and salt are intertwined.

Taste impression

Rich, complex, intense, refined and with great personality. It is a full-bodied, persistent wine with great freshness and acidity that alludes to its potential in terms of evolution and bottle aging.

Culinary advice

The Fiano Piante a Lapio can handle anything gastronomically. It is recommended that the wine be decanted or opened well in advance.
