Enrico Rivetto is among the first winemakers to bring attention to the Nascetta grape. At his vineyard in Sinio, located at 400 meters altitude with a northern orientation, the cloddy vines grow in calcareous, slightly clayey soils with a slightly alkaline pH and little nitrogen.
Nascetta is a native, semi-aromatic variety from the Langhe region, known for its storage potential. The grapes are carefully picked by hand, sometimes in several rounds of selection depending on weather conditions in the vintage. For 80% of the wine, a three-day skin maceration first occurs, followed by spontaneous fermentation in concrete tanks. The remaining 20% undergoes both fermentation and a longer maceration after fermentation in amphorae. Only just before bottling do the two parts come together again.
In the glass, the 2021 edition shows ripe yellow plums, honeysuckle and a subtle spiciness. The palate is fresh and juicy, with tight minerality and an elegant, waxy character that keeps the tension going. An intriguing and refined expression of Nascetta.
“Maceration for 72 hours on the skin gives this golden yellow Nascetta aromas of baked apple, toasted lemon and dried yellow flowers. The rich texture is refined by notes of dried orange, wild herbs and lively acidity.”
Serving temperature: 8-10 °C.
