Ripawine

About the winery

It is a great honor for us to be the only foreign buyer to be able to offer wine from Ripawine. Ripawine was founded as a subsidiary of a large winery located in Ripatransone, in the Marche region (Le Marche). The owners founded Ripawine because of their passion for the small-scale production of exclusive wines. Of the 105 hectares of vineyards owned by the parent company, only the best grapes are specially selected and hand-picked to realize their wines. Only 15,000 bottles are produced annually. Until now, these were only sold within Italy. The fact that we can offer the wine from Ripawine is a direct result of a special acquaintance and relationship. Ripawine makes Offida wines from the Marches such as Offida Rosso, Offida Pecorino & Offida Passerina. These wines are characterized by their long finish and ‘refinement’.

LA FAMILY

About Ripavine

The owners of Ripawine come from farming families where the tradition and knowledge of growing vineyards is passed down from generation to generation. For all of them, caring for the vineyard is an activity that is shared with the whole family: Both the pruning and cleaning of the vineyard and the crucial moment of the harvest. Some of them, like Maurizio, have the primary job of looking after the vineyards. Others have other jobs in addition to working in the vineyards and therefore mainly work in the vineyards in their spare time. The selection of the best grapes and the entire production process from harvest to bottled wine is monitored by the oenologist Sandro (photo). He tries every year with care and passion to improve the quality of the wines, while staying true to the farming traditions from which they originate.

Authentic

The vineyards

Ripawine currently has 105 hectares of vineyards, located at altitudes ranging from 200 to 400 meters above sea level. The vineyards are divided into estates; each with an accurate profile taking into account the soil, exposure and microclimate. Given the vastness of the vineyards and the different areas, the profiles vary considerably from country to country, giving the wine a precious mosaic of nuances. Ripawine’s goal is to find and improve the characteristics of local grape varieties based on these differences. Ripawine also wants to transfer the authentic power of the Picenian country to her wines.

On the territory of Ripatransone, DOC wines are produced, such as Falerio dei Colli Ascolani, Rosso Piceno, Rosso Piceno Superiore, and DOCG Offida wines (Rosso, Passerina and Pecorino).

RIPATRANSONE

Tradition & territory

Known as the Belvedere del Piceno, Ripatransone offers unparalleled views stretching from the Gran Sasso to the Sibillini Mountains, from Conero to Gargano, to the Dalmatian Coast.
The center has a medieval appearance, with Renaissance and Baroque buildings, despite the noble palaces of the early and late eighteenth centuries. These are mainly visible along Corso Vittorio Emanuele II, the main axis that crosses the city from south to north. In the most popular neighborhoods there are countless streets and alleys, including those that hold the guinness world record of the narrowest alley in Italy: 43 centimeters. The gastronomy is genuine and tasty: The typical dish of ciavarro consists of pulses and cereals.
