Tenuta Moraia

About the winery

Tenuta Moraia is located in the heart of the Tuscan Maremma, near the historic village of Gavorrano. The estate covers 160 acres, 60 of which are farmed organically. Surrounded by rolling hills and Mediterranean vegetation, the winery focuses on producing contemporary, vibrant wines that reflect the authentic character of their origin.

Respect for nature and a careful approach in the vineyard are at the heart of the estate’s philosophy. This creates wines that express not only the richness of the Maremma but also the family’s commitment to sustainable and responsible winemaking.

Terroir

The Land

Gently caressed by sea breezes from the nearby Gulf of Follonica, the vineyards benefit from a unique microclimate within the Maremma. Cool maritime currents and relatively abundant rainfall temper the region’s typically warm and dry conditions, allowing for slow and balanced ripening. The combination of sunshine, biodiversity and coastal influence creates wines with freshness, depth and a distinctive Mediterranean character.

Bastioni della Rocca

Bastioni della Rocca was inspired by the golden era of Frederick II of Swabia, when southern Italy grew into a cultural and commercial center of the Mediterranean. The imposing castles that still dominate the landscape today symbolize a time when winemaking became a driving force of the local economy. The winery pays homage to this historical splendor, with wines deeply rooted in the identity of the South.
