About the winery

Rivetto is run by Enrico and is the only biodynamic winery in Barolo. Enrico will tell you more about this:

I, Enrico, am a farmer, a basketball fan and a free spirit. I work and live in Lirano, a biodynamic garden in the Langa of Barolo, between the hills of Sinio and Serralunga d'Alba. I grow vines, fruit trees, herbs and grains.

I believe wine is magical because it gives me a chance to be heard. And I can tell people about a new way of looking at the land and how it is farmed. A way to sincerely celebrate the beauty and harmony of nature under the name Rivetto.

My philosophy

Welcome to Lirano at Rivetto, on this "middle road," where the vineyard is embraced by the woods and the woods speak to the vegetable gardens. Where donkeys roam freely among the rows and where bees buzz and birds chirp in the vineyards. Welcome to the agricultural living organism I call home!

Lirano has always been a hill, at least since the Langhe emerged from the seabed 12 million years ago. At the beginning of the twentieth century, it was a lively village whose inhabitants worked in the vineyards and fields of the Vassallo family.

Lirano is a magnetic hill, a place traversed by contradictory forces of nature, yet it remains balanced. A middle ground between Alta Langa and the hills of Barolo, a ridge between Sinio and Serralunga d'Alba, amid forests and vineyards, amid the Alps and the Ligurian Sea.

Lirano is my little corner of consciousness. Lirano is an agricultural living organism, a complex ecosystem in which biodynamic cultivation represents the change in my paradigm, in my way of doing and being as a farmer, and in my relationship with the land.

Embracing diversity

At Rivetto, monoculture has no place. We believe in nurturing a living ecosystem where the vine thrives alongside hedgerows, medicinal herbs and wheat fields. Diversification in agriculture is our guiding principle, rooted in a deep respect for biodiversity.

Cherishing the land

The soils of Lirano, rich in history and character, provide the perfect foundation for Rivetto's vineyards. Influenced by an altitude of 400 meters and a unique microclimate, our grapes develop harmoniously, resulting in wines of unparalleled quality.

Cultivating life

Our vineyard garden is a testament to our commitment to holistic farming. Here, Nebbiolo vines mingle with hedges, trees and medicinal plants, creating a vibrant ecosystem where biodiversity thrives.

Sustainability in practice

From rainwater harvesting to phyto-purification, sustainability is at the heart of everything we do at Rivetto in Lirano. Through innovative techniques and a deep respect for nature, we strive to minimize our impact on the environment while maximizing the quality of our wines.

A refuge

Donkeys roam freely among vegetable gardens and vineyards, their presence both a source of joy and a boost to biodiversity. These friendly animals help regulate the growth of wild herbs, enriching the soil for future generations.

Preserving heritage

Surrounded by ancient forests, Lirano is a haven for biodiversity and a treasure trove of natural beauty. Through conservation efforts and educational initiatives, we strive to protect and enhance this precious heritage for future generations to enjoy.

Harmony with the cosmos

At Lirano, we believe in the power of the cosmos to guide and inspire us. Through careful observation of the moon and stars, we strive to align our farming practices with the rhythms of nature, creating harmony and balance in our vineyards.
